Friday

Hugh dressed for a freeform

All welcome, even if you are not ticket holders to join us for the Social Friday night: come see what Grand Tribunal all about! Unlike last year we are meeting from 4pm at the Brewhouse pub at the Brewery, Cheltenham where we have both inside and outdoor seating and there will be a bar, soft drinks and a number of food options available for purchase. Opposite the Holiday Inn Hotel.

From 7pm we will be at Gas Green Community Centre our main venue where we will have a brief opening ceremony then play games, chat, and get to know each other. We will also toast the recent marriage of Chris and Felicity Barrett who of course first met at Grand Tribunal!

Light refreshments (tea, coffee, orange squash and snacks) will be available free. Feel free to bring something to share!

These events are entirely optional, and timings are just a guide to the earliest time they might happen. Feel free to turn up fashionably late.

Follow hashtag #gt23uk on Twitter to check the latest updates.

9.30am - 12.30pm SESSION E

  • Wild Edric and the Whimbrel's Toll An Ars Magica adventure for 2 to 6 players by Anna. This is a brand new game for the Hazel Grove, no prior knowledge necessary. Seven NPCs are on offer including four Gifted magi, or players may bring their own character up to age 50. Please no reckless, heedless, infernal or brutal characters.

OR

  • Oops! All Mulders! a World of Darkness rpg adventure by Kyrie for 2 to 5 players. You are Task Force Keter, the FBI's foremost experts on cold cases that may be linked to the supernatural. Of course, if you ask anyone else in the bureau, it's a holding pen for those paranoid agents who are convinced there's a dark conspiracy controlling the world and the (Vampires/Werewolves/Leprechauns) are behind it all.Now you've been sent out to rural Arkansas to solve a deeply suspicious and violent case. Is this all part of the conspiracy? What terrible monster could be behind it? Are the FBI just getting you out from under their feet in the hopes you'll give them an excuse to fire you? Characters provided, with a 5-10 minute detailing/fleshing-out/icebreaker workshop at the start.

OR

  • "I can see you!" for Fear Itself. 2-6 players; run by CJ a modern day horror scenario by Padraig Barrett with too many trigger warnings to fit on this page. Teenagers gather at a friend's house to stage an intervention as she faces a mental health crisis, and things turn deeply weird.

OR

  • "The Open Gameplaying Licence 2.0" for Ars Magica 5th Edition. 2-6 players, could stretch to 8. Pre-rolled characters available, or bring your own (must be magi). Suitable for all, from beginners to seasoned pros, but will need at least one seasoned pro in the troupe.

August 2023. Gaming mega-corporation Witches By The Seaside recently unveiled the 5th edition of their classic Caverns & Griffins roleplaying game, together with a revision of their Open Gameplaying Licence. Unfortunately C&G 5th Edition seems to incorporate real Hermetic spells, and mundane players are somehow able to actually cast them. Magi are asked to assist Interpol in investigating and solving this problem.

http://www.grandtribunal.org/wiki/Open_Gameplaying_Licence_2.0

If you bring your own existing magi character, you may assume some truly stupendous longevity ritual or other similar wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey hand-waving, to permit your character to play in the present day.

1pm - 5pm SESSION F

  • Ippiken's Edge an Ars Magica adventure by Anna The magi of the Hazel Grove, investigating a man selling magical books in Much Wenlock have identified a diabolist and an unknown Hermetic mage as customers. How is this possible so close to Wenlock Priory, and what does it have to do with the robber knight with the long chin by the limestone cliff? Who wrote Wild Magic?

OR

  • Bad Ideas An Ars Magica scenario for 3 to 5 players by Sunette la Grange. What happens when an idea gets a life of its own? Especially when it is a bad idea? Will the magi be able to stop this silliness from spreading in time or will Mythic Europe be doomed to deal with the (no doubt) horrific consequences? (Characters will be provided or bring your own)

OR

  • The Witches of Steeple Bumpstead a Magonomia adventure by CJ. When a self professed witchfinder comes to town the local witch coven decide its time he faced some real magic! You play the witch coven as they use their powers to assist the falsely accused and right wrongs, and maybe a little more besides!
