Hugh dressed for a freeform

All welcome, even if you are not ticket holders to join us for the Social Friday night: come see what Grand Tribunal all about! Unlike previous years we are meeting from 4pm at the Board n Bites board games café at Royal Well, Cheltenham where we have both inside and garden seating and there will be a bar, soft drinks and a number of food options available for purchase as well as dozens of board games we can play. The café is lovely but unfortunately situated down a flight of stairs, so I am making enquiries about alternative access as we want our venues to be accessible to all.

Saturday

2014 Freeform

10:00-22:00 - Gas Green Community Centre, see venue page for details. Please bring a packed lunch. Fish & chip supper can be delivered, optional. The nearby supermarket & corner shop both sell sandwiches.

10:00 SESSION A

  • The Little Sisters of St. George The eight nuns of St. George's convent live a secluded life, and the Mother Superior attempts to keep them free from the temptations and troubles of the world. Living on the Suffolk side of the Thetford, their world is one of joyful prayer and adventures are quire unknown. Or at least that was the case, until a summer's evening in 1214... Come play one of the good and holy sisters in this unusual Ars Magica scenario by CJ -- and avoid being led astray by the curious nun!

OR

13:00 Lunch

Board & Bites café have agreed to deliver food to the venue, so I can place orders the night before or in the morning for you. Alternatively please bring a packed lunch or visit local shops. Last orders for evening fish & chip supper will be taken here, so make sure you have spoken to Andrew if you would like to be in the order. Andrew goes and collects the food to save time for playing having phoned in orders from a limited menu to an excellent local chippy.

13:30 SESSION B (4 hours)

  • Send in the Quaesitores an Ars Magica adventure by Laura Knighton An explosion has caused severe damage to a covenant and a maga of House Guernicus is missing. An urgent investigation is called for!

This is a tabletop Ars Magica scenario of an investigative flavour. Characters will be provided and it is suitable for new people.

OR

19:00 Raffle & Supper

This is the point at which the charity raffle occurs: so if delegates can bring something - food, delicacies, second hand rpg stuff, interesting pebbles etc that is very welcome - to add to the raffle that is great, but by no means compulsory.

Every attendee receives one ticket, and more can be purchased for £1 each.

Andrew will fetch the fish and chips people have ordered, and those who prefer can walk to one of many nearby fast food outlets or prepare food in the kitchen: we have a full size TESCO superstore 5 minutes walk away.

20:00 SESSION C (till late)

  • The Wonderland Curse An Ars Magica adventure by Anna. A tale of a talking, dressed bunny gets your attention. Down there in Dorset a reward is offered for ridding Portland of the Curse caused by Underground Mutton. Bring your own Magi or play some from the Hazel Grove, meet the inspiration behind the Queen of Hearts, and prepare to be both low and high. This can segue into a second adventure if finished quickly.

OR

  • Red and Black An Ars Magica adventure by Christopher Barrett. Exploration and studies of lost ancient worlds. Only from the past can we truly learn how to direct the future, and who better to direct and study than those who will be there the longest. A group of Magi seek to study the ancient arts and skills hidden form the world, to glean information regarding pre Mercurian magics. Long before the Order, before Rome and Carthage Magic was abundant and wild. What skills did they have before written records began, only a chosen few might be able to glean the answer. It will take skill, luck and any number of risks to find answers from the period before the world was washed clean!
2014 Battle of Fornham game

Sunday

9:00-16:00 - Gas Green Community Centre, see venue page for details. Sunday may involve re-runs of games that were booked solid on their first run on Saturday too. Board & Bites café have agreed to deliver food to the venue, so I can place orders in the morning for you. Alternatively please bring a packed lunch or visit local shops. In deference to our hosts no alcohol please in the venue.

9:00 SESSION D (4 hours)

  • Sabren's Wall of Shells. An Ars Magica adventure by Anna. A curious visitor appears at Sir Nathaniel's mansion, bearing a message from Queen Sabre of the River Severn. She offers payment for a service, and requires audience within the week. Her message also asks that you bring Hafren (the stableboy). This adventure particularly concerns river faeries, regio boundaries and the wildlife of the Severn, but no experience is necessary.

OR

  • Against the Wall. An Ars Magica adventure by CJ. Recent events have warned the magi of the Stonehenge Tribunal that not all is well in Loch Leglean. Now the forces of darkness have gathered across the border, and a small group of magi find themselves mounting an epic defence that may save to doom a number of covenants and that will alter the entire course of history in the Stonehenge saga. All welcome!

13:00 SESSION E (3 hours)

16:00 Close

Close and wrap-up. People who need lifts are helped to station, and rest of us wander off for beer, an Indian meal and socialising for delegates who are able to stay till Monday, which we do every year. Highly recommended to stay for the Sunday night for the meal if you can; I'll post last train times to Bristol, London and Birmingham on the Venue page.

Sunday Evening Social

At 7.30 pm it is traditional for those delegates remaining in Cheltenham to go for a curry, and to go to the pub. This year we will instead be going to sit outside in a beer garden and eating takeaway. It is entirely informal and not part of the official programme, but you are very welcome to join us. This year we will be celebrating CJ's 52nd birthday which is later in the week. :D
