Located within Domus Pythagorae, originally founded by Theion scholae Bonisagi in 1230 as a scholarly covenant for the Gently Gifted.

The Charter

• The covenant votes democratically on all matters, with ties being broken by the Princeps
• Princeps is an elected role that changes every seven years; no one magus may serve two consecutive terms
• All council meetings are conducted in Greek
• All internally produced texts must be either scribed originally in Greek, or be accompanied by a Greek translation
• New members must be approved by a unanimous vote of all active magi

Tribunal Policies

• Classes are offered to the non-Gently Gifted each summer: courses are available on Greek, Artes Liberales, Philosophiae, Latin, and Magic Theory.
• Greek courses are offered gratis.
• All other Hermetic courses are taught in Greek, though a Latin translator is available for a fee of 1p. (Zarathustra provides this service and the covenant of Cambridge has no control over his availability or what he charges.)
• Hermetic Magi in good standing may attend any semi-public Hermetic class for two pawns of vis, which includes room and board.
• Apprentices of Hermetic magi may attend any semi-public Hermetic classes for free, but their parentes must see to their room and board.
• Hermetic Magi may copy from the library here freely, so long as they contribute as much as they receive, at a 1:1 value for tractatus quality, summa total L+Q, levels of lab texts. However, note that contributions are subject to Cambridge covenant policy that all texts be either scribed originally in Greek, or be accompanied by a side-by-side Greek translation.

The Magi

Democritus opados Trianoma, gios tou Theon logios Bonisagus - This Bonisagus served his apprenticeship under a research magus, but matriculated into the Trianoman faction after his Gauntlet, on account of his Gentle Gift and interest in politics. He teaches astronomy and geometry at the university, but not much is known of his Hermetic focus. Democritus is fiercely proud of his Greek heritage, but has become jaded about the corruption of the Theban Tribunal, so when his parens formed a new covenant in Stonehenge, he immediately volunteered to join.

He is in his early forties and looks exactly his age, with sandy blonde hair and light brown eyes. He is fond of wearing long robes dyed in a vibrant royal blue, and embroidered in silver thread. His familiar is a small grey fox named Zarathustra, and his apprentice was found for him by Renata of Martin's Mere. Currently serving as Princeps, through 1244.

Theion logios Bonisagus - Nearing his 70's, Theion is still very far from Twilight, and appears about half the age of his filius, Democritus. He is known to be skilled with magics that improve scholarship, although his arts themselves are quite generalized. He has a cat familiar, Bathsheba, who teaches private classes for Hermetic students. He himself teaches mathematics and music, and is known to be a skilled shawm player.

Theion served his apprenticeship in the Rhine and lived at Durenmar from the time of his Gauntlet until he founded Cambridge in 1230. He is recognized by the Rhine Tribunal as a Master, and will provide letters of recommendation to sponsor new Masters to anyone who makes the request of him in Greek. Mind you, demonstrating proficiency is not one of his requirements-- one merely need approach him and utter "Epitrépste mou na écho tin ypostírixí sas" to receive an unpersonalized, but signed and sealed, letter of recommendation.

Federica logios Guernicus - a Gently-Gifted investigative Quaesitor. She was once highly active in Roman politics, but her alter ego, “Magister Frederico of Piacenza,” was offered tenure at Cambridge University. An honour Fred could not refuse, she relocated immediately. She has been largely inactive as a Quaesitor since taking up “Frederico”’s tenured position, as she spends most of her time teaching philosophy and history. Skilled with Herbam and Terram, she is a knowledgeable geologist who produces high quality inks and dyes. Her familiar is a large brown horned owl named Athena.

Niamh of Guernicus - a Blatantly Gifted fae-blooded maga from Wales, she is a Vim specialist who maintains the knowledge of Fenicil’s rituals. She is one of two Cambridge magi who do not teach at all. She is 50 years old, of medium height and has a slight build, with blonde hair and green eyes. She has very little interest in anything outside of her own lab, and only takes what assignments she's forced to take. Her apprentice is a fae-blooded boy named Rhys.

“The twins," Lyonel and Lydia d’Avignon of Flambeau. Both are tall and athletic, with curly blond hair. While both are Hoplites, they have very different methods: Lyonel is a Gently Gifted swordsman and Corpus specialist, known among mundane circles as “Oeil Vert” (on account of his heterochromia). Lydia is a Blatantly Gifted Perdo specialist who relies on stealth and precision. Not much is known about them; both were involved in the Albigensian Crusade, on opposing sides. After the conflict, the two of them disappeared from the public eye, and were believed dead by the Normandy Tribunal. Only in the most recent Tribunal did they return to Hermetic society, though both wished to be far away from Languedoc. So when Cambridge’s previous two Flambeaux were killed in the line of their Hoplite duties, the twins have just recently taken up residence in the labs owned by the two Hoplites who were killed at Martin's Mere.

Epesolais of Flambeau - A young man of only twenty, Epesolais has tousled red hair and an odd mixed look; his expression and enthusiasm say Faerie, his clothing, sword, French accent and bearing Norman Noble, his harp and cloak pin say Celtic, his form speaks to his Saxon blood but with good muscles. He also answers to David Turiel de Samlesbury. He just joined House Flambeau and the Covenant after acquitting himself bravely in a duel against Lyonel. If anything more is reported about him, it will be that he asks for news of the evil Fomori giants, or is said to be talented with fire, or had a five-year-old at his side who also has the Gift.

Notable Trade Information

• Theion is known for his excellent longevity rituals, which he provides for 4p per decade of the subject's age (inclusive of the cost of ritual itself); his lab total is 75 + the requestor's assistance.

• Theion has researched multiple improvements on the "Laboratory of Bonisagus." These are available to copy per Bonisagus policy, but Theion is known to cast the ritual on request for no fee, so long as an arcane connection is provided. It is, however, a poorly-kept secret that he casts his improved versions only when offered a good, hot meal upon arrival.

• Federica and Democritus are both well-respected authors; both produce texts with a source quality of 12.

• Federica produces and sells Ink of Hermes.
