Spring Covenants

Stonehenge Covenant map

Broseley - Founded in 1220, Broseley is a small covenant in Shropshire by the mighty River Severn. It is mostly represented by:

  • Beryl Redcap of Mercere
  • Sir Nathaniel of Jerbiton
  • Gentian of Merinita
  • Laevis of Bjornaer
  • Gabrielle of Jerbiton
  • Brennan ex Mercere
  • two apprentices.

(4 Votes, 2 Redcaps and 2 apprentices)

Cambridge - Founded in the Tribunal of 1230 - It has 2 Guernicus, 2 Bonisagus, 2 Flambeau and 3 apprentices (6 votes and 3 apprentices)

Tintagel - Founded in the Tribunal of 1230 - It has 3 Merenita, 2 Verditius, 1 Tytalus and 1 Flambeau magi from Ireland. (7 votes) Some of these are:

  • Merryn ex Flambeau
  • Arganteilin ex Verditius

Whitby - Founded in the Tribunal of 1230 - It has 3 Jerbition magi, 2 Ex Miscellania, one Bonisagus and one apprentice (6 votes and 1 apprentice)

  • Amelia ex Jerbiton
  • Gerold ex Miscelania
  • Iulia ex Jerbiton
  • John ex Jerbiton
  • Laurea ex Bonisagus
  • Phoebe ex Jerbiton
  • Ruth ex Miscellanea

Yarmouth - Founded in the Tribunal of 1230 - It has 3 Redcaps, 2 Bonisagus and 1 Tytalus from the Rhine (3 votes, 3 redcaps)

  • Adalinda ex Tytalus (f)
  • Moses ex Bonisagus (m)
  • August ex Bonisagus (m)
  • Wigberta Ex Mercere (f)
  • Bruno Ex Mercere (m)
  • Ansgar Ex Mercere (m)

The Covenant lies close to the wealthy and populous town of Yarmouth, it lies within a magical regio that contained a long abandoned druidic temple. The regio is accessed by going through the Gull Stones which lie about half a mile inland. Their primary form of income is from the fishing vessels that ply the waters around Yarmouth and bring hauls of Herring to market to whom they provide important services.

Summer Covenants

Brabonicum (PC) - the Tremere chapterhouse in the Tribunal, and geographically isolated from much of the life of the Tribunal. Emerging from a second Spring back into Summer. (7 votes, 1 apprentice)

Hereward's Isle - is a two century old covenant which is now enjoying a second Summer, Hereward's Isle is a mixed covenant with an illustrious history situated on a hidden island in the Fens. It's magi are known to include Byron of Merinita, Lucius of Flambeau, William Ex Miscellanea, Janus of Bonisagus, Alyssa of Ex Miscellanea and Svetlana of Bjornaer. They have trained several apprentices. They are very isolated from the Order as a whole and redcap visits there are very rare, so the situation may well have changed. (6 votes, 2 apprentices)

Martins Mere (PC) - Refounded 1199 on the site of a previously destroyed covenant. It has 8 Magi: (2 Tremere 1 Bonisagus, 1 Mercere, 1 Verditious, 1 Bjornear, 2 Ex-Miscelania) and some apprentices either at or past Gauntlet. (7 votes (2 of which are NPCs), 1 redcap, 1 apprentice)

The Mercere House (Bath) - Recently re-founded. (About 7 Redcaps)

Autumn Covenants

Stonehenge - is the single most powerful covenant in the Tribunal, and the largest with 13 magi. It aggressively protects its vis sources and dominates every Tribunal, as the Praeco Cuthbert of Flambeau resides here, along with Chad of Flambeau the Chief Hoplite and Tanaquil of Guernicus the Presiding Quaesitor. Five of the magi are a clutch of Criamon magi, whose activities are completely baffling to almost everyone outside the covenant, and possibly some within, though it is rumpoured that they are not schismatics not in communion with the Cave of Twisting Shadows. There are few Criamon magi in Stonehenge other than them to ask the truth. The Stonehenge covenant works carefully to restrict i) open practice of magic in froint of mundanes ii) interference with mundanes iii) creation of magical gold or silver iv) advocates hidden covenants and a secret order and v) are suspicious of House Ex Miscellanea, Merinita and Bjornaer magi who they claim are little better than the accursed Diedne. This is ironic as House Ex Miscellanea was founded in the battle against Diedne! Stonehenge covenant has strong political opinions and uses Tribunals and Marches to enforce its will. (13 votes)

Avalon (PC) - is a small covenant hidden in a regio near Glastonbury in Somerset. The magi there are very strongly associated with the Arthurian myth, which is a politically loaded myth right now: the Welsh Kings say Arthur will return, and overthrow the Saxons kingdom of England! Arthurian myth is everywhere around the covenant, and the magi there are experts in the subject, as well as the shadowy truth behind the stories. What they know they are not saying! They are known as rivals to Stonehenge Covenant, and for their strong association with extolling chivalry and knightly virtues. Desdevarious of Merinita, Moira of York (a Bjornaer maga), Anna Ex Miscellanea and Stephren of Jerbiton are all elderly magi who make up the covenant. (12 votes (of which 3 are NPCs))

Cad Gadu - is a glass island floating in the middle of Lake Bala, and home to the strange warding experts of House Ex Misceallanea, as well as Domus Magna of the House. There power is great, but largely symbolic, and they still await the return of Pralix the Founder, centuries lost to Twilight. Recently they have been under scrutiny as linked to Welsh nationalism and Celtic revivalism which are dangerous currents in mortal politics. The covenant denies any knowledge of these things. (9 votes)

Wychwood (PC) - The covenant of Wychwood is a secluded location, amid the woods at the edge of the Royal Forest of Wychwood. The covenant itself is a mix of stone and wooden buildings with a sturdy tower dedicated to the magi, the manor house as a main gathering location and several outbuildings, including guest cottages. A recent addition to the covenant is a stone bathhouse offering relaxation in the magically heated waters. There is a small village, including a church, immediately adjacent to the covenant. (9 Votes, 3 apprentices)

Winter Covenants

Multarum Insula (Wadeholm) - It has 1 Flambeau, 1 Criamon and 1 ex Miscellanea.

Non-Covenant Locations

Arbor Low - a former Covenant then repurposes as a national Library.

Destroyed or Abandoned Covenants

Wyrms Head - (Reformed) - Reformed in the Tribunal of 1230 as a Spring Covenant - It had 3 Irish Flambeau magi, who were all killed in an attack in the Winter of 1247. (0 votes)

Bridgenorth - Destroyed

Jarrow - Destroyed

Long Meg - Proposed in 1230 but never founded. Its proponents are believed to have moved to Scotland.

News from the Realm

  • The de Marisco Afair
  • Around 1253-1254 Work in Liverpool transforms the waterfront into a true dock that may soon rival Portsmouth and Dublin, capable of mooring cogs and even larger vessels directly against the waterfront for ease of loading and unloading and giving ships from Ireland and beyond an easy spot to harbour.
  • The Stonehenge National Library of Arbour Low is scheduled to formally open its doors and its collection in time for the 1258 Tribunal when the ground rules for the establishment will be voted upon.
  • Tanaquil ex Guernicus is being promoted to a senior role within Magvillus (the Domus Magna of house Guernicus) and a replacement is being sent. She will be formally step down at the next Tribunal and will be familiarising her replacement (Victor ex Guernicus) in the intervening time.
