Geography and Structure:

The Main Covenant building.
Martin Mere Island.

The island is about 9000 feet long and about 4000 feet wide at it's widest point. The Pale green areas are a few feet above the water level. The dark green areas are over 10 feet above the water level.

On the South side of the island is a Regio leading to a set of caverns and a Faerie trod, known as the Crystal Caves.

On the Southern shore of the lake near the gatehouse is the grog village, where farmers and shepherds provide a portion of the covenants income.

The Old Covenant:

The old coven complex has: 5x mini-towers 60 feet across (1 basement level, 2 floors above ground) Each tower used to be the domain of a single Magi, with the top floor of the towers devoted to lab space and the ground floor dedicated to apartments. In the centre of the old Covenant are a series of small buildings housing the old library, bunk house for servants and kitchens. However most business has now been moved to the new castle complex and some of the towers have stood empty for years.

The New Covenant:

This is a vast pentagonal stone structure constructed by magic from a single slab of granite about 90 feet tall at its peak and over 130 feet wide. The Roof is made of glass sheets that cover the entire top of the structure like a greenhouse. It houses over 100 people including the magi, their companions and their servants in relative ease and luxury. Its 47 rooms include:

  • 8 full laboratories, with apartments for the Magi built above them.
  • An elaborate rooftop garden hosting plants from Faerie as well as the Holy Land and beyond.
  • A Roman-style bathhouse on the ground floor.
  • A fully stocked gatehouse and armoury and staffed largely by ethnically Roman-British-Samaritan cavalry soldiers rescued from the realm of a faerie.
  • A vast kitchen
  • The stables with room for 2 dozen horses and the strange faerie-deer that some of the Roman Grogs ride.
  • At the peak is a large ritual/Observation chamber and below that, the council chambers.
  • Hot and Cold running water systems.
  • A large library with an attached Scriptorium
  • An Infirmary and Nursing school/Classroom.
  • A musical performance room that looks over the central courtyard. This is currently occupied by a mechanical Nightingale from Constantinople that once sung to the Emperor Justinian.
  • 10 rooms for staff, children, Grogs and non-Magi to sleep in. (Many prefer to live in the nearby Grog village)
